There are several people who love salmon, but are vexed at the prospect of cleaning it. Here are some easy steps to help you clean salmon.
1. Take hold of the salmon and face the tail to the left. With your free hand, hold the collar bone of the fish and slice the cartilage from the chin to the collar.
2. Now take the gills and follow their edge with the help of a knife. Carve the gills out.
3. The next step in cleaning the salmon is to make an incision at the urethra. Now hold your knife at approximately 45 degrees angle to the cutting surface, and slice the fish about an inch from the collar. Hold the fish guts and slice two circles to the left and right side of the guts near the collar. Clean the fish of its guts now.
4. Use the knife to slice the kidney line and remove the kidney.
5. After this, you should wash the fish carefully and thoroughly. Be sure to make salmon fillets before you start cooking it.
