How to Cook a Turkey Breast

With busy schedules and hectic life, some people find cooking a whole turkey a cumbersome task. Therefore, they focus on cooking just the turkey breast. Not only is it less time-consuming than cooking a whole turkey, it also requires less advance preparation. Apart from cooking turkey breast in a traditional oven, you can also use a crock pot or a slow cooker to prepare your turkey. Here, we will discuss both methods for preparing turkey breast

Ingredients:

  • Turkey breast
  • Four tablespoon of margarine
  • One garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs

Equipment(s) required:

  • One baking pan
  • Meat thermometer
  • Aluminum foil

Instructions:

Cooking turkey breast in an oven

  1. Clean the turkey breast with water. Pat the meat dry.
  2. In a mixing bowl, soften the margarine. Add to it the minced garlic, as well as the fresh herbs. Make sure the margarine, garlic, and the herbs mix well.
  3. Apply the margarine mix all over the turkey breast. If you want, you may loosen the skin on the breast with the help of a spoon, and apply the margarine mix between the skin and the breast as well. This will enhance its flavor.
  4. Now, wrap the turkey breast in an aluminum foil sheet. Do remember to fold the edges too, so that the moisture gets sealed inside. Place the breast covered in aluminum sheet on the baking pan.
  5. Set the oven at a temperature of about 350 degrees F, and cook the meat for about 20 minutes.
  6. You may garnish the turkey breast if you want before serving.

Ingredients:

  • One turkey breast
  • Two onions, chopped
  • Three stalks of celery, chopped
  • One lb. of baby carrots
  • One tablespoon chopped garlic
  • One teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 14 ounces of chicken broth
  • ½ cup white wine
  • ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Equipment(s) required:

  • Crock pot
  • Meat thermometer

Instructions:

Cooking turkey breast in a crock pot

  1. Spray the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray
  2. Take the onions, celery, carrots, and garlic and place them at the bottom of the crock pot. In a mixing bowl, mix the dried thyme, chicken broth, white wine, poultry seasoning, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the turkey breast.
  3. Now, cover the crock pot and cook at low heat for about 7 hours. You can remove the turkey breast from the crock pot when the turkey meat registers a temperature of 170 degrees F.
