How to Make a Tortilla Pinwheels

The Mexican tortilla is a round flatbread made of wheat or corn. The tortilla is a staple of Mexican cuisine, as it is an integral part of dishes such as burritos and enchiladas. If you want to have an appetizer using the tortilla, here is a colorful and festive recipe for tortilla pinwheels:

Ingredients:

  • 5 (10 inch) flour tortillas
  • Salsa

For the filling:

  • 8 ounce dairy sour cream
  • 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 4 ounce can green chilies, well drained and diced
  • 1 4 ounce can black olives, well drained and chopped
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese grated
  • 1/2 cup green onion chopped.

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ingredients thoroughly and mix.
  2. Once the filling has been mixed thoroughly, lay out the tortillas and spread the filling mixture over them evenly.
  3. Once the filling has been spread over the tortillas, roll the tortillas up.
  4. Cover the tortilla rolls tightly with plastic wrap, making sure that the ends are twisted
  5. Refrigerate for about four to five hours.
  6. After refrigerating for several hours, unwrap the plastic wrap-covered tortillas and cut into 3/4 inch thick slices.
  7. Eat the ends yourself, don’t serve them.
  8. Serve pinwheels in a large serving plate, laying them flat.
  9. Put a bowl of salsa at the center of the serving plate.
  10. You may make about 50 pinwheels with these ingredients.
