How to Make Baked Potato Soup
Making a baked potato soup is easier than it sounds. If you use pre-cooked ingredients, the cooking time is even lesser. The baked potato soup is quite a fulfilling dish in itself.
Ingredients:
- Four baking potatoes
- 2/3 cup butter
- 2/3 cup flour
- 7½ cup milk
- One clove garlic, minced
- One cup sour cream
- Six green onions, chopped
- 14 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
- Two cups cheddar cheese, grated
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven at a temperature of about 350 Fahrenheit. The potatoes should become tender.
- Take a saucepan and melt the butter. Once the butter has melted, add flour to it. Remember to add the flour slowly. Mix the flour in the melted butter with the help of a wire whisk. Mix them thoroughly.
- The butter and flour mixture is called a roux. Now, cook the roux till it takes a light golden color. Now add milk followed by garlic to the roux. You can season the roux as per your liking. Be sure to keep whisking the contents of the pan regularly.
- Now, take the baked potatoes and cut them into half. Scoop the interiors of the potatoes with the help of a spoon. Take half of these potatoes and chop them. You can discard the remaining half of the baked potatoes.
- Whisk the chopped potatoes into the milk mixture while it is hot. Add green onions and potato peels to the saucepan. After this, add the sour cream and the crumbled bacon to the mixture. Do not forget to whisk the contents well.
- Now add cheese to the mixture, but only a little at a time, and make sure all the cheese melts inside the mixture. Make sure the content of the saucepan is extremely hot.
- You can garnish the mixture with green onions and cheese it if you want. Your baked potato soup is ready to be served.
