How to Make Chocolate Fudge Cake

The Chocolate Fudge Cake is made of chocolate sponge, sandwiched with chocolate and drizzled with more chocolate all over it. Chocoholics will definitely love this stunning cake.


  • 400 g of flour
  • 50 g of cocoa powder
  • 100 g of light sugar
  • 250 g of golden caster sugar
  • 125 ml of corn oil
  • 300 ml of water (chilled)
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tsp of soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 175 g of unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tbsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 small tub (142 ml) of sour cream

For the icing:

  • 1 tbsp of vanilla extract
  • 275 of icing sugar(sifted)
  • 250 g of unsalted butter (softened)
  • 175 g of dark chocolate (melted)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt and soda.
  3. Take another bowl and beat the eggs, vanilla extract and sour cream until well blended.
  4. Prepare a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, combine the butter and corn oil, and beat until well blended. Beat in the water. Put in all the dry ingredients, and mix together set at low speed. Add in the egg mixture, and continue mixing until everything is blended. Pour batter onto a baking pan.
  5. Place onto the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes. Cool into a wire rack for 10 minutes, and invert into the rack completely.
  6. To make icing: beat the butter and add sugar gradually until mixture is light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and chocolate, and mix well until smooth. Pour the icing on the middle of the cake, on the top, and on the size. Smooth and spread using a spatula. Serve.
