Nothing beats the taste of an old classic. This classic Cranberry Nut Bread recipe tastes sweet and nutty. This can definitely be a delightful surprise to a guest or loved ones.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen Cranberries, coarsely chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in orange juice, orange peel, shortening and egg.
- Mix until the mixture is well blended.
- Add in the cranberries and nuts, and then stir well.
- Evenly spread the mixture in the loaf pan.
- Bake in the oven for about 55 minutes. Check for its doneness by sticking a fork in and see if it comes out clean.
- Let cool for 15 minutes.
- Remove from pan and let cool completely.
- Wrap and store overnight.
