How to Make Greek Pasta
A lot of people believe that what goes into a Greek pasta dish is usually at the quirk and caprice of the chef. What is invariable, however, is the use of olive oil, some veggies, and not to mention, the different flavor and taste. Here’s a Greek pasta recipe that is expensive on the name, yet inexpensive to make.
Ingredients:
- Pasta of choice: Angel hair, fettuccine, shells, orzo, or macaroni
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups water
- ½ large red onion, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 can tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic (powdered one will do)
- 2 pounds ground beef
Instructions:
- Bring a large bowl into a boil, put pasta of choice, and let it sit for minutes until the pasta is cooked.
- In a large saucepan, put 2 tablespoons olive oil, sauté finely sliced onion and whisk together ground beef until it is brown.
- Put in tomato sauce and pour in 2 cups of water. Let it simmer for a few minutes and then add the spices (salt and pepper to taste, and garlic).
- Add the pasta into the mixture or you can do it the other way around, whichever way you choose, make it a point that your Greek pasta sauce do not appear soupy.
- Let the pasta sit in the Greek mixture to better absorb the taste, and then serve.
