How to Make Herb Bread

Herb breads possess delicious and appetizing aromas that you would really want to eat. Pairing well with soups and pastas and cheese, it is good to eat herb bread while it’s still hot. You can add shredded cheese on top of the bread when baking.

For a delicious and appetizing herb bread recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water (warmed, 110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 tablespoons margarine (softened)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast (active)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl for mixing, mix in active dry yeast and water. Let it stand until the mixture becomes creamy and frothy. Add in 3 cups of flour, margarine, oregano, salt, and sugar. You can add in 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese if you want to. With the use of a bread machine, beat the mixture at a slow dough cycle while continuously adding in the remaining one cup of flour. Beat the mixture in slow until the dough becomes smooth and there are no bubbles or lumps present in the dough.
  2. Remove the bowl from the bread machine and cover it tightly plastic wrap. Let it stand in room temperature for about 45 minutes or until the dough rises and becomes double its original size.
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 350F (170C). Grease a 2 quart casserole lightly and set it aside.
  4. Stir in the batter lightly before turning it over once in the casserole to grease it well. You can sprinkle the top part of the batter with grated parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake the batter for an hour or when the herb bread turns golden brown.
