How to Make Mint Julep

Mint julep is a popular Southern alcoholic drink, dating back to the 1800s. Sipping on this drink, you can enjoy the mint in all its freshness. So, here’s to a cool summer.

Ingredients:

  • Three mint leaves
  • One ounce simple syrup
  • Four ounces bourbon
  • Shaved ice
  • Sprig of mint
  • Bourbon

Instructions:

  1. Take a mixing glass and place the mint leaves inside it. Now pour the simple syrup inside the glass along with a little bourbon.
  2. Muddle the glass so as to crush the mint leaves and to mix the bourbon with the syrup. Once this is done, add the remainder of the bourbon to the mixing glass.
  3. Now set the mixture aside for about 3 minutes. Then, strain the mixture into a cocktail glass. Fill the cocktail glass with the shaved ice.
  4. Garnish the drink with the mint sprig. Your mint julep is ready.
