This Saganaki recipe has a little touch of Greek flavors. This is a very unique dish because this is not commonly done by many people. Nonetheless, it is worth trying in your own home which you will not regret.
Ingredients:
- 8 slices of Kasseri cheese (or Pecorino cheese)
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 cups of brandy
- 1 cup of flour
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 juiced lemons
- 8 round of pita bread, brushed with olive oil, grilled and quartered
- 1 cup of Kalamata olives
Instructions:
- With your salt and pepper, season evenly both sides of the Kasseri cheese and then place them in a dish containing the brandy.
- Cover up the dish with a plastic wrap and place it inside the refrigerator for a maximum of 2 hours.
- Meanwhile, turn your attention to your flour and season it with salt and pepper.
- Remove the cheese soaking in brandy and then pour about ¼ cup of it the brandy into the flour mixture.
- Coat the cheese with your flour mixture completely.
- When frying the cheese, start with melting the butter into a hot sauté pan.
- Fry the cheese on both sides for at least two minutes each.
- Add the lemon juice when the cheese is fried.
- When already fried, it will be perfect served with olives and pita bread.
