How to Make Salmon Pate

Salmon Pate is an easy to make appetizer. It is also popular as a snack. While it is readily available in stores, a homemade one can be tastier, allowing for experimentation in the quantity of the ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 pound unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 pound salmon, cooked or smoked
  • 3/4 cup sweet onion, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, fresh squeezed
  • salt, to taste
  • ground pepper, to taste
  • 4 ounces thin crackers
  • 25 each green olives, pimento stuffed

Instructions:

  1. Chop finely the salmon pieces in food processor. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the butter until it has an airy and fluffy texture. It doesn’t matter whether it is achieved by manual whisking or with an electric mixer.
  3. Add the salmon to the butter and mix well.
  4. Add the onion and lemon juice.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the mixture in an airtight container. Refrigerate for eight hours. This will provide enough time for the flavors to blend well. The mixture should be used within three days.
  7. Serve as a spread on top of small crackers or baguette slices.
  8. Garnish with green olive stuffed with pimiento.
