How to Make Vanilla Chiffon Cake

Vanilla Chiffon Cake is a very light and sweet cake, a favorite to people of all ages. Vanilla Chiffon Cake is one of the most popular and well known cakes, and here’s how you can bake one at your own home.


  • 1 cup of sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 c of sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 c of water
  • 1/4 c of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 c of sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract


  1. In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine the all purpose flour, half cup
    sugar, salt and baking powder. In the center, create a well, and place the egg yolks, water, oil and vanilla. Beat using a mixer at set at high speed for 5 minutes or until the mixture turns smooth.
  2. In another mixing bowl, combine egg whites and the cream of tartar together. Beat well, and then add on 1/2 cup of sugar gradually, two tablespoons at a time. Beat with a mixer set at medium speed for about four minutes or until stiff peaks form.
  3. Pour the egg yolk mixture over to the egg whites. Gently fold the mixture. Afterwards, pour the batter in a 9 x 13 tube pan. Spread evenly.
  4. Bake the cake for 325 degrees F for 60 minutes. Afterwards, remove from the oven and invert cake. Set aside to cool for a few
    minutes and serve.

    what if i dont have tartar? does it work without it?
